2005 Kansas quarter errors and varieties exist!  Furthermore, value has increased for the 2005 Kansas state quarter struck through error since its initial discovery.   For instance, “In God We Rust” quarter errors sell for $5 and up in raw condition on Ebay.   Moreover, the better the overall condition of the coin, the more it’s worth.

For instance, this 2005 Kansas quarter struck-through grease error is clearly visible without a microscope.  Furthermore, “In God We Rust” errors are still in circulation.  Additionally, sold listings on Ebay indicate they’re worth more than face value.  Moreover, I found this quarter searching through a box of quarters I obtained from a local bank.

According to The Spruce Crafts, “Like all mechanical machines, a lubricant is needed in the coin press to prevent the metal parts from causing friction to each other.   In the event of this coin’s strike, some lubricating grease had escaped from the machinery onto the surface of the coin die.

As a result, the grease plugged up the letter T in TRUST.  In other words, the T failed to transfer from the die to the coin. This type of error coin is called a struck through grease filled die (or just “filled die”) error.”




Kansas State Quarter

“The fourth quarter released in 2005 honors the 34th state: Kansas. Moreover, the state, which joined the Union on January 29, 1861, takes its name from Native Americans called “Kansa,” meaning “people of the south wind.”
