However, all Susan B Anthony dollar coins are collectible for various reasons.  For instance, the obverse die design was modified with a “wider” rim in late 1979.   Moreover, that design change affects the P mint mark dollars only.  Therefore, it’s the most scarce of Susan B. Anthony mintage varieties.  Additionally, observe the reverse of the coin for a “Full Talon Susan B. Anthony Dollar.”

History of the Susan B. Anthony Coin

Coins featuring Susan B. Anthony were first issued by the United States Mint in 1979.  Moreover, it replaced the Eisenhower Dollar.  Furthermore, it was the first time a woman other than lady liberty appeared on a circulating coin. However, it wasn’t popular in circulation.  As a result, it only has only four dates.  Susan B Anthony dollar dollar coins were minted from 1979 to 1981, and in 1999.

The Right of Women to Vote

Susan B. Anthony was an American social reformer and women’s rights activist.  In other words, she played a pivotal role in the women’s suffrage movement.  Moreover, she willfully marched to the voting polls and cast her vote.  This was at a time when women weren’t permitted to vote. 

After casting her vote, Susan was arrested and charged for breaking the law.  In August of 2020 Susan B. Anthony received a posthumous pardon by President Donald J. Trump.  The pardoning placed the spotlight on the 100th anniversary of the 19th Amendment, which secured the right for women to vote in America.

However, this wonder woman “wore her conviction as a badge of honor.”  Susan died in 1906 before the 19th Amendment became law.  Furthermore, the Susan B. Anthony Museum decided to reject the pardon in spirit of her defiance.
