1973 Lincoln Cent Errors, Varieties, & Values

1973 Lincoln Cent Errors, Varieties, & Values

1973 Lincoln cent errors and varieties exist!  First, all 1973 Lincoln cents are worth at least twice their face value due to their copper content.  For instance, 1973 pennies are 95% copper.  Furthermore, the one examined in this article displays a spiked head die crack error.

Moreover, 1973 pennies in pristine condition increase in value.  For example, an uncirculated 1973 Lincoln cent graded 67+ RD, sold at auction for $3,850.00.

Furthermore, a 1973-D 1C graded MS67RD, sold at auction for $4,994.00.  Any pennies with the lowest population of the highest grades is how profit is made in the coin industry.  A coin in flawless condition drastically increases its value.  However, a die variety generates even more profit.

Additionally, a 1973 Mint Set is selling between ten and twenty dollars on Amazon.   Furthermore, check out the auctions on Ebay.  These are the best way to find coins that increase the chances of getting the highest grade, whether they have errors or not.

If you can find a coin that turns out to have the highest grade and is a variety or mint error, it would be like winning the coin lottery!    A teenager with a keen eye once found a cent worth a million dollars in their lunch money!

1973 Pennies a Short Run Series

1973 pennies were a short run series and therefore collectible and pricey.   “The one year type design for 1973 has large initials on the reverse, and makes it even rarer than other strikes.

A transitional error for this year with a reverse of 1972 or 1974 hasn’t been discovered yet, but that’s what experienced numismatist Chuck Daughtrey says to be on the lookout for.  1973 Cents are famous for displaying a repunched mint mark or RPM.

A coin microscope is a must if you expect to find variety and error coins. For instance, observe the arrows noting the die markings in the images that otherwise might not be visible to the naked eye.

Die markings appear as die chips, die gouges, die clashes, doubling of the devices and more!  Additionally, not every coin dealer pays attention to or collects error and variety coins.  That’s why it’s always a good idea to get more than one opinion.  For instance, observe the sold listings on Ebay.

National Park Monument & Immigration Museum

“From 1892 to 1954 Ellis Island was the largest and most active immigration station in the United States.  Moreover, approximately 12 million immigrants were processed there.  For the majority of immigrants, Ellis Island was an “Island of Hope.”   It was the first stop on their way to new opportunities and experiences in the United States.”

Buying & Selling Coins

Buying, Selling, & Pawning Coins

When it comes to buying, selling, & pawning coins, be honest about your motive.  Recently someone reached out to me with a very common question, asking “Do you buy coins?”  The were looking to get money now.  When I’m not interested, I link them to other options.

Moreover, I primarily partake in coin roll hunting, examining, and gathering research to write about the coin I’ve found.  However, that’s not to say you can’t easily earn and make quick cash fast by selling coins online.

Building Relationships

Connecting or linking people seeking answers about selling their coins to genuine coin dealers on the web, enabled me to build and keep a helpful rapport.  If you go into this niche or any other, always mind your manners.  Thus far, the best advice I’ve been given is that it’s best in the long term to build relationships with others in the industry.  Furthermore, get your coins seen by as many eyes as possible for more than one opinion.  That’s the concept of networking.

Buying & Selling Coins

Additionally, any seeking to sell coins online should keyword search “how to sell coins online” read, learn, and apply!  Links to Amazon, or Ebay, and other websites not advertised are resourceful informational guides.  Furthermore, checking the sold listings of any coin using descriptive details of each coin, will give you an idea of current market values of any coin.

Additionally, coins that are graded and slabbed are able to be consigned with companies like Heritage Auctions, Great Collections, PCGS, or Stacks & Bowers.  Do a keyword search of “coin auctions near me,” and your search engine browser will link you to whatever is closest to your location.   Additionally, auction companies such as Great Collections  offer instant cash advances, and will front money for  raw and graded coins.

Furthermore, joining buy, sell, or trade groups enables coin collectors and dealers to connect with each other.  As long as you’re honest, it’s an easy way to make money online, because coins are just some of the many different items to sell online.  Build your reputation to gain success!

Coin Investing

Additionally, some list their coins for sale directly through coin groups. However, it’s important to be cautious and practice safety first when dealing with strangers you interact with online.  Do not settle for exchanging in just any public place.  If you do go that route, always meet at your local police station or nearest coin show.  Furthermore, if doing business by mail, then buy insurance on your package at the post office.  Protect your item because it is your product.

Pawning Coins

Maybe you’re a coin collector who doesn’t wish to sell your coin collection at all, but may endure a situation when you need money fast.  These collectors are bright and prefer the option of pawning their coins instead of outright selling them.  This option buys them time while helping them deal with any cash related emergencies.

“A huge appeal to pawning something is the fact that you get your money almost immediately. There’s no wait, you don’t have to list or advertise, and you leave with cash in hand.”    This is the option when you know what you’ve got and need to get cash now.   Another option to get money quickly is to apply for a loan online.

Learn More About The West Point Mint Quarters & The Great American Coin Hunt!

Furthermore, when it comes to coins it’s not been so much about selling what I find, or buying them.  It’s been about the thrill of the hunt, and the joy of writing about what I’ve found.  I also do my best to link other finders, dealers, and collectors in the precious metals industry to one another.  That’s just my thing.

Furthermore, I became a fan of coin roll hunting after the West Point Mint quarters release.  The Great American Coin Hunt not only attracted my attention but that of a new generation of collectors.

Truthfully, the coin hobby made me look at money in a different light, and to handle my change more carefully.  Additionally, I was able to figure out an easy way to earn extra money online.  Finally, this website is a partnered associate and contains affiliate links.
